The "USTA-Nevada LEADERSHIP BREAKFAST" for Children was hosted by the Stirling Club in Turnberry Place with guest speaker Kristen Hertzenberg, the lead actress for Phantom of the Opera. The event was Sponsored by the Marty Hennessy Jr. Tennis Foundation and the Charlie Palmer Group.

AMHERST, Mass. - Freshman Candynce Boney (Las Vegas, Nev.) has earned her first rookie of the week honor after her performance against Binghamton and Cornell. Boney dominated in singles play last weekend and was the only UMass doubles teams to win against tennis powerhouse Cornell.

'You've got to find what you love,' Jobs says
This is the text of the Commencement address by Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer and of Pixar Animation Studios, delivered on June 12, 2005.
I am honored to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. I never graduated from college. Truth be told, this is the closest I've ever gotten to a college graduation. Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That's it. No big deal. Just three stories.


   
Ellie Smith, who plays tennis at Club Sport, is most talented at singing. Her talent has landed her on Stage with legends such as Tony Bennett at Marty Hennessy's Junior Tennis Foundation Fundraiser at Tao in the Venetian. She has also performed for legendary Producer David Foster at Andre Agassi's Grand Slam for Children event at the MGM. Ellie has also sung the anthem at over 40 professional events, such as the Lakers, Mavericks, and a variety of other professional basketball teams.

REBEL WRONSKI EARNS FOURTH CAREER MWC HONOR
LAS VEGAS -- UNLV junior Elliot Wronski has been named the Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the fourth time in his career, the league announced.
The native of Cheltenham, England, was a combined 4-0 at the No. 1 singles and doubles positions while helping UNLV to wins over Southern Miss and New Mexico State over the weekend.
In singles play, Wronski rallied to beat USM's Andrew Poole, 6-7, 6-2, 6-1 on Friday and then cruised to a 6-4, 6-1 victory over NMSU's Gustave Diep on Saturday. In doubles action, Wronski paired with junior Wesley Burrows to defeat USM's Poole/Markus Wessinghage 8-1 and NMSU’s Diep/Jim Brouleau 8-2.


   
LAS VEGAS, February 7, 2008 -- UNLV senior star Elena Gantcheva is the first Mountain West Conference player in history to be named women’s tennis player of the week seven times in a career, the league announced. Gantcheva, who has also won the most weekly awards from any conference of any men's or women's player in school history, was recognized for the second consecutive week after pulling off one of the most impressive upsets of her illustrious career.
Ranked 30th in the nation in singles, the native of Sofia, Bulgaria, became the first Lady Rebel ever to defeat the No. 1 player from powerhouse Stanford on the Cardinal's home courts as Gantcheva swept No. 21 Jessica Nguyen 6-2, 7-6 last Friday.


   
LAS VEGAS YOUTH STAND OUT AT SNOWBALL
USTA-NEVADA PRESS RELEASE, January 25, 2008
The USTA Intermountain Section is one of 17 sections of the United States Tennis Association. The Intermountain section has over 36,000 members in its six districts, and each year players from Nevada, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah and Wyoming all compete at the SNOWBALL Sectional Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah. Las Vegas players reached 5 out of the 8 singles finals and won 3. Out of 8 doubles divisions Las Vegas had 4 teams, and two won the Championship.
